Aon Re Europe Formed; Jurgen Grupe Appointed Chairman

Aon Re Worldwide, Inc. says it has created Aon Re Europe, which will integrate its reinsurance brokering operation throughout Europe. Aon Re Worldwide integrates Aon's European reinsurance operations, including its newly acquired companies Jauch & Hubener, Le Blanc de Nicolay, Gil y Carvajal and Grieg Insurance.

Jurgen Grupe, head of Aon Jauch & Hubener reinsurance operation in Germany, will serve as chairman of this new operation, effective immediately, reporting to Dennis Mahoney, chairman of Aon Group Ltd.

Grupe will chair a newly created Board of Directors, comprised of the country heads of Aon's reinsurance operations in this region. Members of the Board include Vincent Redier and Olivier du Passage of France; Horst Knaudt and Holger Gaserow of Germany; Andrea Manzitti, Italy; Jorden de Boer, Netherlands; Javier Esteban, Spain; Fredi Hanggi, Switzerland; and Ross McKenzie and Brian Stewart-Brown of the U.K.
