Allstate Announces Management Changes In Light Of Liddy Appointment
Allstate Insurance Co. is realigning its senior management team to coincide with the appointment of Edward M. Liddy as the company's new chief executive officer. Liddy, currently president and chief operating officer, will replace the retiring Jerry D. Choate as CEO on January 1, 1999.
Under the realignment, Robert W. Gary, Allstate's Property & Casualty president, assumes responsibility for the company's non-standard auto insurance businesses, bringing all of Allstate's property and casualty operations under his wing.
Louis G. Lower, president of Allstate Life, becomes chairman, Allstate Life and Savings. Lower will oversee the external and industry relations of the Allstate Life Insurance Co. and the newly formed Allstate Federal Savings Bank. Thomas J. Wilson, Allstate's senior vice president and chief financial officer, becomes president of Allstate Life and Savings.
Robert W. Pike, currently senior vice president and general counsel, becomes executive vice president of administration, overseeing legal, corporate relations and human resources. Michael J. McCabe, senior vice president, marketing and brand development, becomes senior vice president and general counsel.
The positions of chief financial officer and senior vice president, marketing and brand development are still to be filled.
