AIG Names Regional VPs and Deputy Comptroller
American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has named new regional vice presidents in the American International Companies' Los Angeles and Atlanta regional offices.
Mayra Guffin has been appointed VP of the Los Angeles Region, which includes Southern California and the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. She will report to Vincent Masucci, senior executive-West. With more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry, Guffin has held a number of regional positions in the Western Zone, including Los Angeles Regional Profit Center manager for major accounts casualty, Los Angeles national accounts vice president and most recently the National Accounts western zone vice president.
W. Gordon Knight has been named regional vice president in the Atlanta Region, which includes the states of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. He will report to John McCue, senior executive-East. Knight has held a number of domestic and foreign management positions since joining AIG in 1982, including divisional vice president, National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA, and AIU regional vice president, financial lines, Southeast Asia. He most recently served as president of AIG's American International South Insurance Company.
The company also named Robert P. Jacobson as vice president and deputy comptroller. Jacobson was most recently senior vice president, chief financial officer, and a director of Everest Reinsurance Company, where he was responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting. Prior to that, he was a partner at Coopers & Lybrand LLP, where he was the partner in charge of the Coopers & Lybrand New York Region Insurance Industry practice. He is a graduate of Queens College of the City University of New York and a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, and the New York State Society of CPAs.
